Description from the CANADIAN WOODWORKS:
This chair is a very interesting and unique design, when you sit in it you feel free and very comfortable. Perfect for sitting down with some friends to play some guitar but also fits right in around a board room table. We’ve been able to sculpt this design into our own by deciding to attach the front leg to the seat using a true Maloof joint, this adds strength and beautiful fair transitions.
The designer team of Innovo Design, Jovana Bogdanovic, Christoph John and Zhang Lei is young and talented trio based in Hangzou, China. They has designed Piao chair from paper umbrella. Gluing layers of paper is the way how to create traditional paper umbrella. Paper layers are combined till the chair is strong enough to sit on, but is still keeping its flexibility. Hand made paper is rich of natural fibers that give strength to carry a person and is accordingly our option for this comfortable chair. [Via]

“A chair is not just a product of decorative art in a space,” wrote Finn Juhl, Danish furniture designer “it is a form and a space in itself”. Beautifully demonstrating this idea is his Pelican Chair (1940), with its graceful curves that befriend the body and wrap the sitter in its embrace. Pelikan is a wonderful part of the design that invites to every audience. Its organic form is a good example of the way in which Finn Juhl has been inspired by modern ”free art”. Typical of Finn Juhl, the Pelikan is very comfortable and manufactured according to best craftsmanship traditions with hand-sewn upholstery. The legs come in several types of wood.
