Poliart is a family of coffee tables designed by Luca Nichetto for Casamania to introduce an insight of the rich cultural identity of four of the most representative art centers of Europe: Paris, Barcelona, Venice and Istanbul. The basis of each of the four design support surface is bearing one of the city plan and in colors inspired by the culinary delicacies of the best known city. Venice is dark brown like the famous dish pasta al nero di seppia; Barcelona is saffron yellow like a vast dish of paella; Istanbul is white colour, typical of the sweet rose-flavoured Turkish delight and its dusty sugary coating; Paris is a deep rich red, bringing to mind steak tartare or the rich, ruby tones of French burgundy.
Luca Nichetto with poliart line would like to actively promote the cultural activity of these cities, by suggesting to the company of contribution a percentage of its profits to choose foundations and associations dedicated to rising of cultural activities in each of these urban centres. [Via]
The idea of produce these tables come in from designer Italian Luca Nichetto for his client Gallotti & Radice. Its made with different heights through the repetition of a single building block is what informs Layer, a table arranged of a glass with 12mm transparent glass top supported by a base made by stacking a variable number of wooden rings which repropose the structure of a pals trunk. The use of the rings is what permits the table’s height and dimensions to be varied, depending on whether one or two columns are employed and how many rings are stacked to make them.
Available in natural ash, wengé stained or white, black, saffron yellow, sand or chestnut open pore lacquer. [Via]
