Tobi-Ishi Table By Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby

Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby has designed a Tobi-Ishi table for Italian company, B&B Italia. Tobi-Ishi is a round table that inspired from the east, even in its name which refers to the ornamental stones used in traditional Japanese garden. The shape of a table, which is distinguished by the cantilever top and base that look different depending on the perspective, alludes to those smooth stones. With using unexpected materials, a Tobi-Ishi table is made with blending the technology aspect and handicraft. After considerable experimentation aimed at creating a granite look, a table bases have cores in Baydur ® (structural polyurethane foam) and a wooden top. All the parts have been maintained with cement grout to make a sort of superficial skin that recalls a history of high-tech craftsman. [Via]

Sebastian Herkner will launch a Bell table, its first collaboration with ClassiCon at the Milan Salone del Mobile in April 2012. A Bell table is made using the lightweight material, fragile material of glass as the basis for the metal that looks to float above it. Hand-blown in the traditional way using a wooden mold, the transparent tinted glass base asserts a statue presence in space, contrasting curiously with the solid brass frame on top also forming a harmonious unit that recalling the curving silhouette of a bell. With its appealing reflective surfaces and contrasting materials, a side table adds a special touch to domestic interiors. It celebrates the beauty of the materials with their colors and surfaces, along with the virtues of hand-craftsmanship. A Bell table is a masterwork of traditional hand craftsmanship. Each table is created by hand meaning that small bubbles or bumps in the glass happen, but this is desirable characteristics that marking each into a unique piece. [Via]

A table designed by Färg & Blanche, have the strongest and more visible piece, simple and original design, also can create any room look special. An Atlas table is using elementary oversized shapes and gives it a strong characteristic, distinguished by its round globes and circle top. Formstelle has designed the turntable for Zeitraum. Ancient form of a turntable speaks for itself. This table has unique identity for its own axis. The turntable is present in the chamber as a feature and fixed on the center line of slim legs in solid wood. To all appearances, this round table was carved from one piece of wood. Singapore designer Nathan Yong has created a Drapery table for Sphaus. The Drapery is consists of two occasional round tables, different in diameter and height. The essential design of this table is reminiscent of the stage curtain. The frame is created of an 8mm steel rod, chromed or powder-coated in white, black, turquoise blue or curry yellow. The table top is a transparent 5mm crystal. A Drapery table is used for outdoor and indoor space. [Via]

Luca Nichetto has designed the Taffy coffee table for Gallotti & Radice. The Taffy is coffee table with 15mm extra light screen printed in various colours: white, black, grey and cement glass top with moiré pattern. The Taffy is the English translation of the French term moiré, which shows unique graphical effect generated through the interference created by the superimposition of two groups of lines, sometimes curved, sometimes not. Inspiration came from a book that describes the process of making moiré effects when Luca Nichetto flipped through book in bookstores of Paris. The Taffy coffee table is show up in three different sizes. They are created for exceptional work together, but each can also be used independently. [Via]
