Cumulus is a modular sofa system for the restaurant and lounge environment, designed by Jonas Wagell. The Cumulus sofa is intended for public spaces but has the comfortable and generous look of home furnishing, but also has the functional and technical qualities needed in restaurants and hotels. Cumulus can be ordered in different configurations and sizes to meet different environments and interior’s requires. The series consists of four modules, one seater, two seater, and a corner. Simon Legald has designed Onkel sofa for for Danish brand, Normann Copenhagen. Onkel is a sofa that combines simplicity with a modern form of the soft curve of the past. Onkel name is taken from the Danish word, meaning uncle. The selection of material adds a sensuous side with its characteristically Nordic connotations. This sofa consists of a simple upholstered frame with cushions. The inspiration for the cushions comes from upholstered sofas typical of the pre-1950s era. The materials on Onkel make dynamic effects with plain colored frame, the back side with mottled, cushion and color lacquered under frame. All is under the shade of the same color. This is what makes Onkel stand as a complete unit. [Via]

Form Follows Function is the sofa with organic and liquid shape, designed by Dutch designer Daan Mulder. The designer have drew a practical concept, the goal was to make a sofa where all functions arise out of one current line. The sofa is made of three steel plates with a thickness of 1.5 millimetres. Designer Matthew Hilton has created Lucas armchair and sofa for SCP. The Lucas armchair and sofa expertly embed a traditional design typology with modern aesthetics. The design combines clean lines with smooth barriers curves to make a piece of furniture that is comfortable and completely proportioned. Ingenious details such as the taper and flare of the turned oak legs and the slight protrusion of the seat cushion give serenity. The armchair is handmade in our Norfolk factory with an FSC approved beech frame, jute webbing and hessian straps.

The sofa is made with an FSC approved beech frame, jute webbing and hessian strap. The armchair and sofa are covered with a mixture of ingredients that include natural fibers, animal hair and wool. Both are made in the England. [Via]

The name Hotdog first show up from the proportion of long round layers from the front display, but the name may also suggest the slang interpretation of the word meaning a risk taker or one that boast.
