Letizia chair has been reissued by Poltrona Frau at Milan Furniture Fair 2013. A project that catalyses and revisits the creative ferment of an era. Designed in 1954 by Gastone Rinaldi with the name of DU 55 P is now re-released by Poltrona Frau. The style icon has retained the power of its designer’s successful intuition over time, a universal design and, at the same time, the expression of a precise cultural breeding ground. Letizia chair has sensual and soft lines, welcoming and comfortable. The backrest acquires new elasticity. The support is thin and sleek, suitable perfectly with the shell. Steel structure is made with molded polyurethane foam padding. Also it has elastic belts for the springs of the seat and the backrest. [Via]

Swedish designer Alexander Lervix has created a unique shape chair called The Spike chair. Spike is the seat made with old fashioned from a number of rods, like a bed of nails, which collectively imitate the curve of a body. The base of the chair is created of tubular steel, welded together with a three-millimeter steel base plate. The upper section is made of turned ash components. Alexander Lervik obtained inspiration for his new chair when he goes a trip to Philippines, “One day it poured with rain. Raining stair rods, as they say, and that’s exactly how it was. The shafts of rain resembled slanted lines and in that rain I suddenly saw the outlines of Spike in front of me,” says Alexander. The Spike chair presented at Gallery Pascale as part Stockholm Design Week. [Via]
