These are low tables designed by Stephanie Marin for Smarin. It’s made of wood and assembled horizontally like the island that seems to float. The visible slices of which form a random combination of stripes, bringing to mind the uniqueness of geological relief. It’s only element stacked and easily separable. The whole collection offers me the feeling of living on an island (Livingisland). [Via]
These coffee tables are called Bell Tables has designed by TIM for England furniture manufactures Decode London. The tables are made from particularly bounded, die cut profiles forming a solid inanimate block. By forming a concertina, the table folds to form a solid matrix that is six times its original volume. The sweeping interior of the tables is informed by the contours of brass instruments, this presents an otherwise two dimensional material an unexpected and beautifully fluid three dimensional form.
