“A chair is not just a product of decorative art in a space,” wrote Finn Juhl, Danish furniture designer “it is a form and a space in itself”. Beautifully demonstrating this idea is his Pelican Chair (1940), with its graceful curves that befriend the body and wrap the sitter in its embrace. Pelikan is a wonderful part of the design that invites to every audience. Its organic form is a good example of the way in which Finn Juhl has been inspired by modern ”free art”. Typical of Finn Juhl, the Pelikan is very comfortable and manufactured according to best craftsmanship traditions with hand-sewn upholstery. The legs come in several types of wood.
