London studio Doshi Levien has designed Capo armchair for Italian manufacturer Cappellini. The Capo presented at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2011 in Milan. Its form and materiality derived from the image of a dapper man in a neat suit and a felted hat. As the name, Capo with its wide cantilevered arms and upturned lapel, alter the sitter into a boss. The thin flexible edges of the chair prepare shelter without being closed and also accentuate its lightness. Capo is available in some variations that create it fit for various arrangements. Japanese Design Studio Nendo has designed Sekitei chair for Cappellini. The name Sekitei is taken from the Zen gardens that inspire manufactured this armchair. The lines of the seat resemble the winding curves drawn through sand or white gravel by Japanese rakes based to an age-old art. The foam cushion also reminds this pattern with designs in white thread against black fabric or black thread against white fabric. Sekitei is made by bending 14 stainless steel pipes, each 2 cm thick and available in black and white. The specialist finish of the steel and the waterproof fabric of the cushion create armchair fit for outdoor use. [Via]
