Dutch designer Bertjan Pot has created the Ritz sofa for furniture manufacturer Geiderland. Generally sofas are made of voluminous foam blocks, but the Ritz was different. The foam is downsized for reduce its utilization because the keeps rising oil price (foam is made from oil). Although skinny looks, The Ritz sofa comfortable in all sides. Stretched elastic bands covered with a thin layer of foam ensure a soft seat. Upholstering was made simple by using a zipper all around. The high sofa legs create it easy to sit down and get up. The Ritz sofa is long enough to used lie down on and relax also equipped with comfortable pillow. [Via]
Bertjan Pot has designed a unique hanging lamp called ‘Stairway to Heaven. ‘Stairway to Heaven’ is a lamp with a safety ladder form, lit up like carnival lights hanging from the ceiling. It all begins from a new safety ladder that we requesting for studio and the carnival lights we used for a different project. When they arrived it suddenly seemed like the perfect illogical combination to create, rawness and glitter. ‘Stairway to Heaven’ became a brilliant and interesting object. [Via]
Dutch designer Bertjan Pot has created suspension lamp the ‘Holes’ for brand Arturo Alvarez. Inspired by kites and mathematics, ‘Holes’ is a lamp made out of 20 triangles, 30 bars, 12 connectors and 57 small holes, no more and no less. The ‘Holes’ lamp is created from Tyvek®, a non-woven and technological material made from polyethylene fibers, lightweight, waterproof, with high tear resistance and completely recyclable.
