Barbie Flagship Store and Cafe Interior by Slade Architecture
The world’s largest Barbie Flagship Store and Cafe is developed on 35,000 sqm area and most comprehensive collection of Barbie dolls and Barbie product licensing. The design concept of this store is how to create the characters where the “Barbie is hero”; expression of Barbie as a global lifestyle brand with historical connections to build a fashion brand.
All exterior, interior, fixtures and furnishings designed by Slade Architecture. It is designed to make a fun, sleek, unapologetically feminine interpretation of Barbie: past, present, and future. The essential colors of the interior and exterior of the store is a pink expressing Barbie fashionable sense and history.
For the new facades, Slade Architecture mixed reference to the product packaging, decorative arts, fashion and iconography of modern architecture to make an identity for the store.
This mask is made of two layers: molded, translucent polycarbonate panels and flat interior panels of exterior glass frit pattern printed with a strange grating. Slade collaborate with designers in BIG, which made the frit end of the exterior graphics. Two layers reinforce each other visually and interact dynamically through reflection, shadows and distortions.
Cafe Barbie, a beautiful restaurant and gelato bar on the top floor, providing guests a chance to rest and enjoy the convenience of good local food and drink inspired Barbies. Mattel and David’s selling well planned concept of Barbie Cafe and Fashion Cafe. Both spaces, designed by Slade Architecture.
