WXY has cooperate with Weidlinger Associates Inc., a prominent structural engineering firm, to design four landscape bridges called Nanhe in Xinjin County, China for the Chengdu Xinjin Urban & Rural Development Investment Company Limited (URDI)’s design competition.
Xinjin is a historical city which has appealed many residents and tourists for years. It is located in a strategic geographical position where five rivers cross, and for centuries poets have elevated its natural beauty. Our designs draw inspiration from the heart Xinjin landscape and rich cultural history, and reflects the prosperity of the modern city.
These two intertwined ribbons serve as well a practical destination by enlarge the capacity of the bridge to permit for Xinjin’s future growth.
The complex shape of the bridge is derived from the linear extrusion of a simple steel box girder; its clear red colour will resonate against the grey blue colours of Xinjin’s hillside landscape. The bridge design serves a strong iconic image while making an exciting space to walk and overlook Xinjin.[Via]
