Toyota FT-EV II
Toyota will debut the FT-EV II, an ultra-compact electric vehicle. With a range of 90 km (56 miles) and a top speed of around 100 kilometers per hour (62 mph), the FT-EV II – which supports for “Future Toyota Electric Vehicle II” – designed for short distance urban driving. Despite the small size of the vehicle, there is seating for four inside. Designers are able to free interior space by deleting items found on traditional vehicles, such as the acceleration and brake pedal, which has been substituted by a joystick control. Other features include dye-sensitized solar panels, electric sliding doors, and the retro-futuristic interior. By combining a variety of communication functions to the dashboard, Toyota aims to show how electric vehicles may serve as a powerful information tool in the future network society. In addition to relate with navigation functions, the FT-EV II may download movie and music content, makes recommendations to suit individual preferences, and communicate with the driver’s home network, allowing the driver shipping information superhighway while tooling around the city.
