The young Argentinian designer, Nicolas Calandri has awarded as the winner in the third edition of the Infiniti Design De-contest 2013. Turtle by Nicolas Calandri is a project that fully answers to the demands of the contemporary way of living. This folding chair conceived in polipropilene, characterizes not only for its organic formal aspect, but also for the fresh and juvenile image, almost irreverent, that makes it an unique model. To differentiate this chair from the greatest part of the flexible chairs is the enveloping round one-piece shell that, combined to functionality and ergonomics, makes Turtle a different folding chair, in accordance to the even more reduced and dynamic living spaces. Design Studio IL HOON ROH will shown the hand crafted ‘Rami Side Table’ to the public for the first time at the Salone Satellite 2013. Rami side table is made from hand-woven carbon fiber with straps 1.2 km (approximately one mile) long was weaved into a three-dimensional form by hand. The resulting shape is not determined in advance but allowed to be produced into final form. The designer also demonstrated full potential of carbon fiber by making a design that is several times stronger than steel yet weighs less than 1 kg and can be lifted with a finger. Rami series is highly customizable and can be manufactured into various types of furniture including chairs, benches, console tables, and side tables with different metal surfaces. [Via]

One of product Brigada design studio is Brigada coffee table. Generally, a coffee table is usually use for temporary storage mostly of newspapers, magazines, books and papers, ending up as a real storage space. Having that in mind, Brigada started designing a coffee table that would give the same function in a more efficient way.

The space for newspaper and magazine storage is the extension of the upper surface, in the adequate grooves, while the lower shelf is lowered to the floor level. By reorganizing functions, magazines are now easily accessible, their covers more visible, and with the larger number of grooves. The basic outer color of the table is black and the inner parts can be arranged according to the user’s wishes. [Via]

Spike Chair By Alexander Lervik

Swedish designer Alexander Lervix has created a unique shape chair called The Spike chair. Spike is the seat made with old fashioned from a number of rods, like a bed of nails, which collectively imitate the curve of a body. The base of the chair is created of tubular steel, welded together with a three-millimeter steel base plate. The upper section is made of turned ash components. Alexander Lervik obtained inspiration for his new chair when he goes a trip to Philippines, “One day it poured with rain. Raining stair rods, as they say, and that’s exactly how it was. The shafts of rain resembled slanted lines and in that rain I suddenly saw the outlines of Spike in front of me,” says Alexander. The Spike chair presented at Gallery Pascale as part Stockholm Design Week. [Via]

Designer Broberg & Ridderstråle has created the Cane bench for Nola. The Cane has been exhibited at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2013. The Cane is a contemporary wooden park bench with beautiful detailing and classic feeling, warm and inviting. Walking in the park would not be complete without a moment to sit down, relax, and see the sights. The Cane backed bench makes space for two people, filling the gap between individual seats and benches long enough to seat small groups. The compact bench form even makes it fit for spaces that are too small for normal-sized benches. The Cane is the perfect choice for the small space, but big on style. [Via]
