One of the Montis collection is the Dim Sum rocking chair designed by Simon Pengelly, the deliberate unusual design, that carries relaxation with a smile because a number of studies have found the act of rocking, releases endorphins in the body that result a calming and effect relaxing.
The shape of Dim Sum itself is unusual for a rocking chair. The name is taken from the form which is reminiscent of the spoon used for eating Dim Sum, the slim handle that flows into the wider spoon equal to the narrow back of the chair and the way it curves down into the shape of the arm and seat. Aurelia is the energy-efficient LED lamp offers not only a pleasure for your eyes but also your sense of touch. With a three-way “touch ring” dimmer, it enables easy luminosity adjustment. Glare is removed thanks to LED’s small-size characteristic, so that possible to conceal the LED in the middle.
Cooperation with Taiwan’s National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, QisDesign learned various life forms of jellyfish. This produces a design that is proportional with the jellyfish, both literally and figuratively. The transparent double acrylic shades resemble the airy body of the enchanting animal, making a reflective and irresistible charm. Nu-ovo is mobile room designed by Paolo Maldotti that makes new function on beaches, on the swimming pool sides, in the golf courses and outside hotels. The rotating mobile part allows modulating light and shade automatically. It is covered with photovoltaic cells and produces energy all year long. Nu-ovo is totally coated and used as a shelter from cold or rain, in summer it can become a bed area closed, at nights equipped with mosquito net, so that we can enjoy the night skies and contact with nature. Giuseppe Vigano cooperation with Italian company Saba created a coffee table, Silver Ring. Silver Ring is a small table smooth and harmonic marked by a polished glass, laser printed surface, empowered by four discreet wheels which facilitate placement and settlement. Studio Daniel Libeskind in cooperation with Nienkämper Furniture Company has designed a spirit house chair for the Royal Ontario Museum’s, Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. The creation of this chair was influenced by its surroundings. In this case, the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal’s exterior and the self supporting structure, which are reminiscent of crystals. The crossing of two of these crystals makes a void at the heart of the construction a spirit house chair. The chair is made with cutting a blank sheet on a CNC laser cutter, formed on a brake press, hand TIG welded and polished.
The chair is built fully of 14 gauge stainless steel with a brushed finish and weighs 180 lbs, stands 35.5” tall and is 46.5” wide. Each chair takes 40 hours of labour to finalize and just a limited number have an engraved signature from Daniel Libeskind on the top. [Via]
